About Emily Duchscherer Kirk
EDK Studio is a publicly open artist studio, art gallery and reading room. Emily welcomes the public to use this space for free during opening hours — to read, write, draw, make and create, and to contribute to her participatory installation What a MESH!
Emily Duchscherer Kirk Studio is a limited company run by the artist. It is not for profit — all sales of art and donations go towards the studio's monthly costs and new materials for visitors to use.
Finding connections when you struggle to connect. Like the majority of autistic people, Emily struggles to communicate with others in person and online. Opening a studio — and then a gallery and reading room alongside it — meant thinking carefully about what works and what doesn't. She is conscious she will fail, as most people won't like her. But she's doing it anyway.
EDK Studio is neurodivergent run and friendly, and is a wheelchair accessible building with parking at the front.
